PAJCCI Appeals Against Corruption

July 21, 2014

President of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khan Jan Alokozai issued an appeal to truck drivers at the Torkham border crossing with Pakistan to not pay bribes. Alokozai also met this week with the Customs Department at the Ministry of Finance to ensure proper export procedures are being followed. With a seasonal rise in the export of fresh fruit from Afghanistan to Pakistan, hundreds of trucks are currently crossing the border. This wave of exports has historically created a spike in corruption as drivers would be forced to pay bribes to avoid customs delays.
